I will be honest with you. I don’t own that many pieces that are vintage or even vintage inspired. But, adding more vintage pieces to my wardrobe is definitely on my thrift wish list for 2015. I decided to give this dress a try as a recent outfit for brunch with some friends.
You won’t believe me when I say that I paid only $1.00 for this dress at Thrift Traders here in San Diego. Although the price was definitely right, I wasn’t too sure of the style. I am not entirely comfortable rocking vintage pieces as the last thing I want to do when I dress, is to age myself. However, I absolutely loved the ruffles at the top, with the gold piping and of course the high collar. I have no clue who made this dress as the tag was removed. But, vintage or not, it’s a little black dress and I figured I could add some elements to the dress to modernize it just a little.
To add a contemporary flair to the dress, I added a skinny animal print belt that I bought from Goodwill for $2.00. Can you believe my belt was more than the dress? Seriously, thrifting is just the way to go!
Completing the outfit, I opted for some simple black Nine West ankle-strap heels that I recently acquired from Ross Dress For Less for only $17.00 on clearance. Finally, I added my new favorite clutch. Of course, it’s thrifted from Unique Thrift in the Bronx, New York for $2.00.
Entire outfit, $22.00.
