Have you rocked a denim on denim look lately? If not, you should know that the denim on denim trend has been around for a while now, and I don’t see it going anywhere anytime soon. The reason that this trend is here to stay, is simply because it’s a chic and effortless look that can be pulled off by anyone.
The trick for getting denim on denim right is all in the pieces you choose. The basic rule to get this chic denim on denim look is making sure that the washes and colors are different from each other. You should pair light washed blue denim jacket or shirt with dark blue, black or grey jeans. You can do it the other way around with dark washes on top and lighter on the bottom. Another basic rule for this denim on denim look is that you want to make sure that your denim pieces fit you perfectly. It’s important to make sure your jeans are slim or skinny and your shirt, jacket or vest is fitted. The cuts should be slim, especially on the legs as denim on denim doesn’t look good with really loose jeans. Hands down, it’s much more suited for skinny fits.
Here I accomplished my denim on denim look with these distressed denim leggings from Charlotte Russe. These leggings are super comfortable, fits perfectly and was the perfect price of only $20.
I also got this dark wash denim shirt from Charlotte Russe in the same shopping trip for only $15. Let me tell you, that is a great price for a nice denim shirt, so much so that I bought a couple in different washes. A denim shirt is a definite staple in your closet as you can have so many looks at your finger tips. If you don’t already own one, then you need to get one.
I opted for these thrifted snakeskin Preview International heels. I thrifted these heels from Frock You Vintage here in San Diego for $15, and love how they go well with this denim on demin look. Additionally, can you say no to some awesome heels for $15.
I also added this super cute handbag that I got from EA Vintage here in San Diego for $15. This leather purse is super cute, unique and went perfectly with this outfit.
Finally, I added some accessories that I got from Rocksbox. Rocksbox is a membership-based jewelry styling service where members pay a flat rate of $19/month to get access to a personalized rotating closet of designer jewelry, sent in sets of three at a time. The bangle and the statement necklace is a part of the first Rocksbox set I was sent. I decided to wear the necklace as a choker to give the denim on demin look a little bit of flair.
Are you convinced that you can rock the denim on denim look yet?
