Spring is definitely around the corner, and I cannot wait! I am a little tired of dressing in sweaters and heavy coats, and ready to shed the “drama” of winter. However, I should remind some folks that spring is not summer, and while the temps warm up, we still must be aware that there is still some chill in the air. So, what does one wear while we transition from spring to winter when the weather can be so unpredictable? Here is one simple style trend that you can make your winter to spring transition easy, and of course, keep you looking your best.
Have you tried styling midi skirts for your spring transition outfits? Midi skirts are the perfect transitional piece that you can layer as needed and style appropriately for whatever occasion. What I admire about the calf-length skirt is the versatility it offers. You may choose to wear a midi skirt with knee-high boots and a sweater in the winter time, or a crop-top in the spring. It is definitely one of those pieces that can transition with you from season to season, and are flattering on everyone.
I found this gorgeous faux leather, pleated orange midi skirt from Zara for $12.99, during their end of season clearance sales last year. You should know that I love Zara’s fashion, but not their “non-sale” prices. But, trust me when I say that their sales and clearances are amazing and worth the wait.
I immediately fell in love with this midi skirt when I saw it in Zara. Of course, with a $12.99 price tag, this was an easy buy. Here, I paired this orange midi skirt with a dark wash chambray shirt. You have seen this chambray shirt styled on the blog before here and here and you can expect to see it in the future again, as chambray shirts are a wardrobe staple for me. These shirts are are super versatile and a great pick for that casual look.
As I wanted a casual feminine look, I tucked the shirt into the pleated midi skirt, and rolled up the sleeves. A chambray shirt is a perfect, lightweight pick for the warmer seasons, and therefore, a must have for transitioning the seasons.
I completed this look with these Nine West animal print pumps that I got from TJ Maxx for $29 on clearance. I think the heels provide that extra “slay” in this outfit.
What are your fave season transition pieces?
I love the midi skirt look! It feels so classy to me, like a touch of 50s fashion. But when you add the shirt and heels like you have, the look is also totally modern and fun! I’m also allergic to paying full price for anything. 😉 haha Thrifting is my superpower. I love how you’ve turned your superpower into a blog!
Jessie,
Allergic to paying full price — lol. That made me laugh. Love your superpower! Thank you for stopping by.
I love that skirt so much! I love the midi skirt trend. I wear high waisted midi skirts all of the time, even during winter 😛 I can’t wait for spring though, I can finally start wearing my skirts and dresses without leggings.
Krysten,
You are absolutely right about the versatility of midi skirts. Thank you for stopping by!
I am dying over this outfit! And the skirt was twelve bucks? I just got back from thrifting but this makes me want to go back again and dig deeper, lol.
Missy Burson,
Hahaha… thrifting is so much fun isn’t it! Yes, I was way too happy to find it for $12 myself.
This color combo is absolutely perfect. And you’re stunning!!!!!
Jessica, thank you!

Loveeeee! What month did you shop at this Zara sale ?
Emma,
I normally hit them up in March and then again in August! End of season sales are fabulous.
Hi Ayana, you look gorgeous! I love your short hair and your smile. That shirt and skirt look perfect on you. But I really love the most your hair- I went natural one year ago when I was pregnant but now I wear extensions again while my hair grow. I am still not sure if I keep them natural when they get much longer or straighten them. But I love your hair do!
I will definitely keep coming back to read your blog.
Happy Wednesday, sweetie!

Miri,
Welcome to the natural hair club. Keep it natural as long as you can. But, I definitely understand the need for change at times. Thank you for your sweet compliments.
You are a model!!! LOVE that skirt on you and those pumps to go with! Perfect style and I love YOUR blog!! XO
Ruthie,
Thank you for your very sweet compliment. I truly appreciate it.
I love your midi skirt, and I may need to invest in one! I’ve been wearing maxi skirts a LOT lately, because it’s been really windy and they keep my legs warm, haha 🙂
A midi skirt is very versatile and can be worn in spring, summer, fall and winter. If you don’t have one, definitely invest in one. Check out your local thrift and/or consignment stores. They always have a lot.
You are gorgeous!! I have a love affair with midi skirts. This one is so pretty and I love how you styled it with the chambray and leopard print.

I am so obsessed with this look. I love Zara but like you I always hold off on getting stuff because it always goes on sale and I kick myself for purchasing anything full price.
