Polka Dots + Polka Dots
Polka dots are certainly a retro style, but like all great retro styles, they all come back around for us to enjoy! Fortunately with so many options available for spring, you are guaranteed to find a piece that fits your personal style, especially at your local thrift and consignment stores.
This outfit features mixed prints with polka dots on top of polka dots. I thrifted this Express polka dot shirt at AMVETs in San Diego for $4.00. When I thrift, I tend to focus on patterns that jump out at me while browsing the aisles. Polka dots are one such pattern that make me stop quickly and examine.
I paired the white polka dot shirt with black polka dot high-waisted shorts from Zara. I got these shorts on sale, $9.99, and absolutely love the cut, and how they look on me. Of course, a sale price of $9.99 for these beautiful shorts cannot be beaten. Notice that the polka dots in these shorts are larger than the polka dots in the shirt. I think the distinction makes the mixed pattern look even more interesting.
Pulling the look together is this yellow Kardashian Kollection blazer that I thrifted from It’s A Wrap out in Los Angeles for $11.00. A bright color always works against black and white, wouldn’t you say? If you are wondering, It’s A Wrap is a store that offers the general public the opportunity to purchase actual wardrobe from movie and TV productions. Yes, you can even get second hand clothing from your favorite TV and movie stars, but of course, avoiding the ludicrous price tag.
For me the fun part of this outfit are these fringe open-toe leather booties! I got these from one of my absolute favorite consignment store in San Diego, My Sister’s Closet for a shocking $12.50. To me, this find was an absolute score. They make a statement, real leather, comfortable and the price is an absolute steal!
Completing the look is this vintage clutch that I got from Frock You Vintage in San Diego for $5, sunglasses from Goodwill, $1, and fringe earrings from Macy’s on clearance for $11.00. A beautiful outfit, with a very affordable price tag!
Let me know if you have ever pattern mixed with different sets of polka dots.

Hi Ayana! I am sooo excited that I found your blog post! I am also a huge thrifter and I just moved to San Diego from San Francisco last month. I was a little bummed to leave my favorite thrift stores behind but now thanks to your post I have a list of new places to explore. I can’t wait to check these out, thank you for sharing!
