This thrifted peplum blazer is seriously chic! I mean, it is a peplum, polka dot blazer. I have told you before, I LOVE polka dots, as you can see here, here and here. Well, you get the picture. Now the peplum trend is one that I probably will never let go. It’s a good thing that I am not a slave to trends. If I like it, I will wear it until I don’t anymore. I came across this peplum blazer at Thrift Traders here in San Diego and paid $5.00 for it.
The blazer was designed by Et Al by Ronnie Rosado according to one of the tags. Another tag on the blazer was an Int. Ladies Garment Workers Union (ILGWU) label in red, white and blue prominently displaying the Made in U.S.A. slogan. If you are trying to date your vintage pieces these ILGWU tags are most helpful. If there are no ILGWU labels then most likely, the piece is not vintage. In this case, since it was the red, white and blue tag, I know the piece was made anywhere from between 1974 and 1995. A quick search on google for Et Al Ronnie Rosado and I quickly learned that the designer was an 80s designer. Just some quick tips on dating vintage pieces.
But, back to this gorgeous blazer. I love the double peplum ruffles. Check out that awesome gold piping on the edges and to top it off it has gold polka dots!!!
Of course, feeling the gold in the blazer, I figured why not go all out with a gold sequin shirt. I thrifted this gold sequin shirt from Goodwill for $4.00. Certainly, you must already know that I have a true thing for sequins and will find a way to wear them at various occasions, day or night. I have certainly given you some ideas of rocking your sequin finds here, here and here.
As I was only heading to drinks with the ladies, I paired the blazer and sequin top with some skinny jeans and my black mesh booties. I added a glittery gold clutch that was a definite score from Marshalls at $5.00 on clearance and was ready for an evening out.
Have you come across pieces that you needed to date? What are your tips for dating vintage pieces?

Actually that was the first time I had ever seen one and I had to snatch it right there and then. I have learned about what works for me from a lot of trial and error. Don’t give up on that.
