Sorry for my mini absence, but took some time off to visit family and friends in New York City — my true hometown! While San Diego is still enjoying 80 degrees weather, I had to pack the sweaters to visit New York. So, Keren Charles of Two Stylish Kays and I decided to show off our stylish sweaters this week. Please check out Keren’s blog to see how she rocked this awesome neutral sweater with the pops of red color.
Fabulous as usual!
Of course, if you have been following me for some time, my claim to fame in fashion is the use of colors and patterns. It’s of course much easier to find colors in the spring and summer wardrobes. However, people tend to shy away from the bright colors during the fall and winter — except me! When I packed for my NYC trip, I was really happy to pull out my comfy and colorful sweaters.
I quickly spotted this J Crew sweater at the Salvation Army in San Diego for $4.00 (tagged at $8, but 50% off on the weekends). But, of course, San Diego is still too hot to wear something like this. I rocked it in NYC for a day of shopping with one of my besties. It was very overcast and cloudy with temps barely reaching 70 degrees that day! So this sweater definitely brightened up my mood when I stepped outside.
I added this thrifted striped black and white blouse underneath to give the outfit a little more interesting elements. Striped blouses are in abundance in your thrift stores, you just have to look out for them. I thrifted this Liz Claiborne blouse from Goodwill for $3.00. It’s actually a size 16, of course too big for me, but you won’t know that if I wore a blazer, or a sweater like this! Remember, you should always be thinking outside the box when thrifting.
I have been having a lot of great luck thrifting jeans, which is a FIRST! I thrifted these high waist Guess jeans from AMVETS in San Diego for $2.50. They are so comfy, they almost feel like jeggings! Thanks to the person who broke them in for me. Love it.
Flats were a must, with the amount of thrifting around the City we had in mind that day! A great opportunity for pattern mixing so I added these animal print flats. I got these from Nordstrom Rack recently for $24.99 and probably overwear them. I tend to act as though they are a neutral and can go with everything. Although, I have had hubby give me the side eye a few times after I have thrown in with an outfit that might have been suspect. But, they are comfortable, and really do go with everything.
A comfortable and chic outfit for a day of shopping!
