Live A Great Story! When I was first approached by this San Diego-based apparel company to style their inspirational tank, I was immediately hooked by their philosophy Live A Great Story. It certainly made me stop and ask myself whether I Live A Great Story.
I am a happy person because I believe that I Live A Great Story. I have found a passion in thrifting that I am so happy to share with others, even if this passion was born out of a need rather than a desire. I first started thrifting in high school while living in Bronx, New York. I shopped from thrift stores because my mother, a single parent of six, simply couldn’t afford to buy me the name brand clothes that my classmates wore, and those that I wanted. Thrift stores offered me the ability to stay stylish and allowed my mother to use her hard earned money for the more important things we needed in life. However, I will be honest with you, I was embarrassed that I wore second hand clothes. I was embarrassed that my clothes didn’t come with all the new tags. I was embarrassed to let anyone know where my clothes came from.
Fast forward years later, I am still thrifting. However, I thrift not because I have to, but because I want to. I thrift because I love stylish clothes that don’t always look like the next person on the street. I thrift because I am simply not about a life where I pay full retail price for everything I wear. But, most of all I thrift because I absolutely love the opportunity to hunt for that amazing piece and create a beautiful and stylish outfit for a fraction of the retail price. Today, I am proud to say that I thrift.
I Live A Great Story because I am now in a place where I can fuel my passion for style and thrifting to inspire other women. I love that my Thrifting Divas Facebook group has over 15,000 members, all thrifting divas who are proud to show off their latest finds. This passion has led me to start this awesome blog which continues to grow each day. While it’s a lot of work running a blog, there is a huge feeling of contentment when I read an email from a new mother who has been inspired to start thrifting her new wardrobe post baby, or a young woman who has started a new job and not having the funds to purchase great suits at retail price. I Live A Great Story through sharing my passion for thrifting.
I styled this inspirational gray tank with this beautiful floral pencil skirt from Asos and thrifted Nine West heels from Salvation Army for a casual look.
