This week, Keren Charles of Two Stylish Kays, and I are rocking KIMONOS!
Let me first start off with saying that while Keren and I discuss the fashion themes, we do not plan out our color schemes in any way! However, since we have started this Thrift Sisters Link Up three weeks ago, we literally noticed that we have both had the exact color scheme each week. And, oops, we did it again :). Check out Keren’s blog for the details on her amazing floor length kimono.
I am working with a short kimono in this outfit. While I have been on the look out for a kimono at my local thrift and consignment stores, I haven’t ran across any that I really loved. Yes, although the prices are definitely right (under $5 in some stores), I still need to love the piece. But, as you already know, thrifty fashionistas can still shop retail and obtain thrifty priced items. I bought this beautiful kimono from one of my favorite stores, TJ Maxx for $12.99. I especially like this kimono because of the beautiful blue colors, the lace detail in the sleeves and of course, the price.
I normally don’t hop to every trend out there. I pretty much go with the flow. But, I do love this kimono trend this spring/summer season. I am ALWAYS cold, no matter what the temperature claims to be. However, adding this kimono to an outfit like this, is perfect for me. The kimono is light weight, stylish, and I am not going to get many stares from folks like I normally get when I am wearing a jacket in 80 degrees.
I wanted a casual outfit on this day, so I paired it with these gorgeous wedges I scored on the San Diego Thrifting Bus Tour. I boasted about this score here on my youtube channel. But, check out the flower details in the wedge heels — simply gorg! The Banana Republic denim skirt was also a thrift find from Goodwill for $3.99. The studded tank top I purchased from Forever 21 a few years ago during a clearance sale for $2.99. Yes, it’s still holding up wonderfully…lol. However, one of my BEST thrift find EVER, is the over sized clutch I added to this outfit. I found this brand new Zambos & Siega Brigitte clutch at Island Thrift in Long Island, New York. I paid $3.00, it retails for over $200. What can I say, I LOVE THRIFTING!
Now, let’s jump into our fourth week of our Thrift Sisters link up! Keren Charles and I launched our Thrift Sisters link up, encouraging you all to post thrifted or thrifty priced items to this link up. We are very appreciative of those who took time out to link up their great thrifted items.
This week’s featured Thrift Sister is Alexandra Stella of Funky Jungle. Check out those awesome thrifted wedges and cashmere sweater that she paired with this GORGEOUS midi skirt! Definitely head over to her blog to see more stylish outfits.
Now it’s your turn to join us this week. Please link up your favorite thrifted or thrifty priced item. Here are the rules. Go ahead and link away for a chance to be featured as our next Thrift Sister!
I think I will need to add your kimono to my wardrobe. Please send to Atlanta ASAP.
Keren,

Robyn,
Thanks for stopping by!!!! The lace detail is actually what made me buy this kimono above others.
Coincidence or not, I love that you are coordinated! And that clutch! My goodness, what an amazing thrift find!
Lyddiegal,
Thank you!!! Yes, that clutch is definitely one of my BEST thrift find ever!
We live for finds like that clutch, don’t we? 🙂 I very much also love the color and patterning of your kimono. My own kimono ootd has been month ago or I’d link it. Anyways …

Alex – Funky Jungle
Alex,
Who are you telling about living for those finds…ah!!!! You can link old posts at anytime. Your posts don’t have to only be recent posts. A great post is always welcomed here at Thrift Sisters Link Up.
You find the most amazing thrifting deals. I saw a new Goodwill in my area and I got excited because it was one the nicer side of town. It was a lot bigger than the one near my house so we stopped to try to look around. However, we when got to the door they were closing 🙁 I will have to try to make it back soon because I love all your thrifting deals.
Sonya,
Oh no!!!! lol. Definitely give it a try again. You won’t be let down once you get in there.
