Yes, I am wearing blush pink in the fall! If you follow my blog, you know that I consider myself a color lover. Thus, it pains me to see the brainwashing that occurs to convince color lovers that only specific shades could be worn during certain seasons. Thankfully, those antiquated rules are slowly dying, and we are finally starting to see nontraditional colors, such as blush pink, step out in the limelight in the fall and winter months.

It goes without saying that not everyone reading this article lives in a place that experience the same fall and winter season. I lived in San Diego for three years, and the so-called fall weather was absolutely glorious for me. I’m talking 80’s during the days, 50’s in the evenings, and all sunshine during the day. Needless to say that during that that type of weather I did not want to wear grays and browns? Now, I am in Maryland, and if the weather is beautiful, I am wearing my beautiful colors, season be damned.
When I think of all the wonderful color combinations you can be deprived of if you choose to listen to these crazy fashion rules, it truly makes me squirm. Blush pink is usually a color associated with spring and it’s not hard to understand why; as these shades are far easier to get on board with when they go hand in hand with the season’s vibrant days. However, I submit to you, that fall is another perfect season to style those beautiful pink pieces that you rocked in the spring and summer months. Of course, depending on how chilly it is outside, you may want to incorporate some layering.
I bought this beautiful blush pink skirt from Asos for $11 at the beginning year. This color is simply beautiful for all skin complexions. It’s also the perfect “grown up” pink color, and can easily be worn in any season. I also love the asymmetrical ruffle pleat that cuts through the skirt. As it is a mini skirt, when the temperature drops, I will add some ribbed tights or even throw on a cardigan. If you pair it with heavier layers, these extra layers provide warmth but also provide a blend of textural contrast that makes you stand out – in a good way!
I paired this blush pink skirt with this cobalt blue floral top. I love the color contrast between the subtle blush pink and bold blue, and the floral print. I purchased this top from Agaci for $8, and already know that this top will make a comeback later on this season with a beautiful wool blazer.
Finally, I completed this look with my cobalt blue sandals that you have seen here. I added some simple accessories like my shimmery clutch and some jewelry, and was absolutely ready for a “fall” afternoon reception here in Annapolis, MD. Remember, if you are going to follow fashion rules, that you follow this one – Wear It, Own It!
