I was born in Trinidad, an island in the Caribbean. With that said, please believe me when I say that the weather in the Caribbean is absolutely amazing and allows for one to wear gorgeous colors throughout the year. I moved to NYC at age 12, and have experienced some harsh winters and some suffocating summers. Now, don’t get me wrong, there are about four months of the year that NYC can have amazing weather as well. However, 4 out of 12 months is simply not enough. Besides, cold weather means that I am staying indoors, which precludes me from being able to really enjoy the weather and cute outfits worn outside.
But, I have been redeemed. We recently moved to San Diego, and can I just say, this weather is AMAZING. I know I say the word “amazing” a lot, but the word really describes a lot of things that tickle my fancy. Which leads me to the point of this post. Gorgeous (I used a different word here :)) weather, makes me want to embrace colors in my fashion. I have never been the one to shy away from colorful clothing, as I do believe those pops of color livens up my mood and simply makes me look great. But, it will almost be a slap in the face to this gorgeous weather to not wear bright beautiful colors. I know many women believe that the bright colors are just too much, but give it a try and see. This is where thrifting can become your best weapon in the search for finding those pops of color. Experiment with colors by going to thrift stores and save lots of money. I promise you, it has wonders of perking up your day!
