Last week we rocked bold prints, and having a love for prints, Keren Charles, of Two Stylish Kays and I, decided to style our African prints this week. Keren looks absolutely gorgeous in this predominantly african print dress. Please check out her blog for the details of this beautiful look.
Can you believe that I can get away with wearing this outfit in the middle of November? I know some of you guys reading this are luxuriating in fall weather, but I am fully embracing a lifestyle of delayed fall, in sunny San Diego. I wore this to a Sunday afternoon brunch, where temps hovered in the mid 80s.
Let’s jump into the details of this skirt and top! I actually did not thrift this outfit, nor did I get it on some amazing clearance rack. Much better than that — it was a GIFT! Getting clothes at a serious discount is awesome, but getting it as a gift from a dear friend is ten times better! One of my awesome friends recently spent several weeks in Ghana, Africa. She asked me what I would like her to bring back and I said African print cloth so that I can have some pieces custom made.
She went above and beyond and had the outfit made for me out there! This African print, popularly known as Ankara print has gained popularity in the global fashion scene since 2010. She only paid $20 for the cloth and to have a local Ghanian seamstress make it for me! Can you believe that? A customized outfit for $20. You know that it is a LOT more in the United States.
I am no stranger to print mixing as you have seen here and here. By now everyone knows that mixing prints is a definite DO in fashion. To me, mixed-prints looks translate into fabulous styles and outfits in any season, for any occasion. If you haven’t tried it yet, you are definitely missing out.
I paired the outfit with my work horse booties with it’s fabulous gold heels. These booties have already made an appearance on the blog here. I bought these Tildon booties for only $35 from Nordstrom Rack. I added this yellow thrifted clutch to complete the look. The clutch set me back $3.00 from a Goodwill in Los Angeles.
Lastly, I added some colorful drop earrings that I thrifted from the Salvation Army for .25cents. I also couldn’t believe the price. Let’s just say that I RACKED up on earrings that day and had change left over after paying with a $5!
Now, it’s time to jump into our Thrift Sisters link up! Keren and I launched our Thrift Sisters link up, encouraging you to post thrifted or thrifty priced items to this link up. We are very appreciative of those who take the time to link up their great outfits. This week’s featured Thrift Sister is Chioma Brown from Chioma’s Evolution of Style! We love how her sporty floral look. Check out her blog for great styles that are chic but very affordable.
Now it’s your turn to join us this week. Please note that you can still link up with us even your items are not thrifted. We are looking for your favorite thrifted OR thrifty priced item. Go ahead and link away for a chance to be featured as our next Thrift Sister!
You always have the most fun, unique, bright and bold prints, clothes and accessories. In love with both the top and mini-skirt. Look at those legs. I also love the cut-out booties and camel is the perfect color.
Pleasure being the first one to link up today and I think you will like my outfit because it is bright and happy and I actually could see you wearing it. Maybe I am wrong. =)
Have a Great Wednesday Babe!!
The print of both pieces is incredible, you look stunning lady.

I love big, bold colors in an outfit, and you totally pull this off! Plus, that is completely cool that you had the fabric brought back AND got a seamstress to make you something out of it! 🙂
